Kognitio and Marks & Spencer Money scoop the ‘Most effective IT services partnership’ award

Three-times winner Kognitio is once again rewarded for its outstanding managed services delivery to leading financial services organisation

Marlow, United Kingdom – 24 July 2006 – Kognitio, a leading provider of solutions to business problems that require acquisition, rationalisation and analysis of both large and complex data, today announced that it has won the ‘Most effective IT services partnership’ award at the prestigious Effective IT Awards held on 22nd June in London for the exceptional work it has been carrying out with Marks & Spencer Money, its third award for this relationship.

Selecting the Companies from a shortlist of three nominees, the panel of independent judges chose Marks & Spencer Money and Kognitio for the ongoing success of their partnership. During this collaboration the two organisations developed the Minerva business and customer intelligence database and successfully rolled out a Chip and PIN project to ensure maximum customer retention and increased customer spend by credit and store card as a result of the Chip and PIN program introduced earlier this year.

This project achieved all its objectives around accuracy of delivery and communication, card activation and usage rates (set by profit segment) and cross sales targets. As a result, Marks & Spencer Money has been unique in the UK financial services market in its approach to using what would otherwise have been a major “cost sink” to drive real tangible business benefits and develop their customer relationships.

“To have the ability to effectively interpret customer data is a major competitive advantage for many organisations and we are thrilled that for the third time our managed services solution has been identified as a key advantage,” commented Roger Llewellyn, managing director at Kognitio. “Our expertise in helping companies gain the maximum out of their data enables them to devise targeted campaigns that help them drive company growth and performance. Our success with Marks & Spencer Money and their Chip and PIN program is a great testament to our capabilities.”

Martin Squires, Customer Intelligence and Analysis Manager at Marks & Spencer Money commented: “We are delighted with this award which is a true reflection of our successful partnership with Kognitio. Marks & Spencer Money is a leading financial organisation in the UK and part of our success is due to our unparalleled understanding of our customers.”

‘Chip & PIN authentication of credit and debit card transactions became mandatory this year, forcing Marks & Spencer’s Money division to issue new cards to its 2.5 million financial customers and this could have been a costly and disruptive exercise,’ continued Llewellyn. ‘But, working with Kognitio, Marks & Spencer Money used Chip and PIN migration to cement customer loyalty, drive new sales and increase profit’.

Previous awards that have recognised this working relationship include “Most Effective Outsourcing Partnership Initiative” awarded by the Institute of Financial Services in December 2004 and “Best Sales and Marketing-Led Project” awarded at the CRM Industry Awards in May 2003.
