The release of Kognitio's latest results have shown strong growth for the firm, which illustrates the growing demand from companies from all parts of the economy for advanced big data analytics and in-memory computing solutions.

The figures, which cover the period from June to September 2013, reveal total revenue grew by 15 percent compared with the previous three-month period. Meanwhile, the company has brought in as many new clients in the first half of the current fiscal year than it did in the full year 12 months previously – with 86 per cent of this new business coming from North America.

New customers that are benefiting from Kognitio's offerings include iAuto, an Atlanta-based company that offers analytics to car dealerships. It is using Kognitio Cloud to improve its marketing performance to ensure it can direct its resources more effectively.

Overall, the double digit growth experienced by Kognitio in the past three months can be seen as a reflection of continued interest in big data and Hadoop in particular. This demand is particularly coming from medium and large-sized enterprises that have an increasing need to analyze ever-expanding amounts of information more quickly than in the past.

This was also noted recently by market research firm Gartner. The group found 64 percent of organizations plan to invest in big data tools in 2013, or have already done so. This is up from 58 percent that were looking to get involved with the technology in 2012.

President and chief executive officer of Kognitio Steve Millard said: "In-memory analytical platforms have attracted the awareness of the market; leading analysts like Gartner say that in-memory computing is 'racing towards mainstream adoption'."  

He added: "As a pioneer in this field, we are seeing greater interest and that is resulting in a significant and continued increase in our business."

Kognitio has also been helping to spread awareness and understanding of the capabilities of big data at events such as the SPARK! conference in Atlanta, where it delivered a keynote address on business intelligence. It is also an Exabyte sponsor of the upcoming Strata + Hadoop World event in New York later this month.
