Day one presentation to highlight in-memory and Apache Hadoop for business
ATLANTA, September 23, 2013 — Kognitio, driving the convergence of Big Data, in-memory analytics and cloud computing, today announced it will deliver a keynote address at this week’s SPARK! Event on Modern Data Platforms in business intelligence (BI), being held here in Atlanta.
The address will build on Radiant Advisors’ Modern Data Platform framework and methodology, which includes Hadoop alongside other methods of storing and accessing Big Data. It will challenge the audience to think about the role of the data scientist, today and in the future.
“The analytical enterprise of the future will leverage data scientists alongside business analysts, all using advanced analytics to get behind the numbers,” said Michael Hiskey, futurist and product evangelist for Kognitio, who will be speaking in the session. “Big Data gives us the ability to go further than ever before, bringing hundreds of factors into any calculation, scenario or algorithm. The next-generation data platform enables us to take an approach that information can live anywhere – but can be brought into an analysis everywhere – to gain new insights and propel business advantage.”
Hiskey will set aside some of the hype around Big Data and talk about the real and valuable aspects for organizations of all sizes. While no one solution is a panacea, he notes that leveraging best-of-breed technology, like an in-memory analytical platform, in concert with smart business practices and domain expertise can drive the kind of new innovation needed to ‘spark’ economic growth in America today.

SPARK! Events are designed to deliver the most current and relevant topics in the BI and analytics industry through interactive experiences for BI professionals. These regional events offer the opportunity to engage with industry thought-leaders, analysts, and vendor-sponsors. The event will feature eight sessions that introduce the framework and methodologies for modernizing data warehouses into data platforms that combine the latest data integration and analytic capabilities. SPARK! Atlanta is the fourth event in the SPARK! Event series this year.
“As companies adopt the Modern Data Platform to transform their BI architectures, the role for in-memory analytic databases continues to be a critical component of the strategy,” said John O’Brien, principal and CEO for Radiant Advisors, who puts on the event. “We are thrilled to have Kognitio as a sponsor in SPARK! Atlanta, and look forward to deep, engaging discussions on how their solution can be adopted and interwoven.”
The conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and is open to BI professionals who are involved directly with, or responsible for, architecture, technology, and strategy.
