Data encryption in transit

Kognitio supports the encryption of client connections, including any data that moves into or out of the database. This is done with SSL technology. Various ways of turning SSL on or off are described below, for different connection methods. Note that SSL introduces an overhead which will slow down data throughput.

Encrypting an ODBC connection (command line)

SSL can be enabled/disabled when connecting via ODBC, by adding a setting in the odbc.ini file that the ODBC driver is using:

[ODBC]
SSLEnabled=N

Encrypting an ODBC connection (Kognitio Console)

Console sessions can be encrypted by checking the ‘Encrypt connection traffic using SSL’ option in the ODBC driver setup window (click on tools, then odbc configuration, then click ‘configure’ on a data source).
