Runtime parametersΒΆ

In addition to setting parameters in the config file, it is possible to set system-wide, session and user parameters live, using SQL.

System and user parameters are persistent, whereas session parameters only exist while the session is active. Parameter values are integers. Parameters are typically used to fine-tune Kognitio performance for specific configurations and work-loads; they are only normally set when the system is installed or under the direction of Kognitio support.

It is possible to have system, user and session parameters with the same name; in this case session parameters will be used in preference to user parameters which in turn will be used in preference to system parameters.

You can verify the value of parameters by inspecting the following system tables and views: IPE_CURRENT_PARAM, IPE_PARAM, IPE_USER_PARAM and IPE_ALL_PARAM.

The following command is used to set parameters:

SET [USER | CURRENT_SESSION] PARAMETER name TO value

A parameter can be removed using the equivalent DROP PARAMETER syntax:

SET [USER | CURRENT_SESSION] PARAMETER name TO value
