Getting Started with Kognitio and perl

by skkirkham » Fri May 23, 2014 5:04 pm

Hi all

I've posted a script that shows a simple example of how to use perl with Kognitio External Scripting. Nothing too fancy to get going. It simply takes a string as input and outputs the words in the string in separate rows.

In the script this simple example is used to illustrate how you can create a Kognitio external script that executes perl and then use this in queries, or alternatively, use perl code "inline" within Kognitio SQL queries themselves.

Once you have the basic framework shown here you can utilise any perl code with the scripting structure just define your input and output accordingly and away you go.

If you would like to learn more about the basics on how to set up the interface then this is covered with simple python examples here.

Remember if you want to take things further and use perl modules these need to be installed on every Kognitio node. You can make use of the wxsync and wxtool utilities to ensure the installation is identical across nodes
