How does wxsubmit find the odbc.ini file?

by markc » Mon Mar 24, 2014 9:29 am

I know how an ODBC driver manager finds DSN entries etc. on Windows and Linux, but how does wxsubmit do it as it does not seem to use the same method as a driver manager?

wxsubmit and the other Kognitio command line tools use a special version of the ODBC which determines DSNs and other ODBC configuration information via an odbc.ini file.

When trying to locate the odbc.ini it first looks in the directory defined by the WCS environment variable, then the current directory and then any directories defined in your path.

The odbcinst.ini used by driver managers is not used by in conjunction with the Kognitio command line tools, it is primarily there for a driver manager to use.
