Rerun failed restore jobs after fixing underlying problem?

by markc » Thu Jul 10, 2014 1:34 pm

I did a restore which failed for some views because the underlying tables were not present (I'd manually excluded them by accident).

Now I've restore the missing tables, how can I rerun the restore to put the views in place - without having to restore all the other objects which did successfully restore already!

Restore uses IPE_RESTORE_MANIFEST on the server. This has a status field which has the following values:
  • 0 not executed
  • 1 claimed
  • 2 failed
  • 3 succeeded
  • 4 succeeded with warning
So you should be able to identify the manifest_id for the failed restore as it will have the same number of entries with status 2, as you had reported failures in your restore job.

Once you have done that, you can mark all those failed jobs as not executed with:

wxrestore -s <DSN> -u SYS -p <sys password> -m <manifest id you found above> -c retry -d <directory you used for original failed restore>

Then you can rerun those jobs with:

wxrestore -s <DSN> -u SYS -p <sys password> -m <manifest id you found above> -c run -d <directory you used for original failed restore>
