How do I synchronise a file across all nodes in Kognitio?

by markc » Tue Dec 16, 2014 9:11 am

I have made a change to a file on one node, and want to synchronise that change across all the nodes in the system.

Is there a Kognitio tool for doing that, or do I need to script something with scp, or use some sort of deployment tool like HP's RDP?

You should look at the wxsync tool, which is explicitly for synchronising files/directories across servers. It uses the same underlying technology as the database used for e.g. synchronising software releases and the system configuration file across all the nodes in the system.

Note that it relies on your system clock being synchronised fairly well across all nodes (as it ensures the objects being synchronised on all nodes match the one with the most recent timestamp) – you should ensure the time on all nodes is consistent, typically by using NTP.

“wxsync -h” gives help on the command, “wxsync -S <fullpathname for file/directory>” synchronises the specified file/directory.
