Performance metrics

by jagan.kumar » Thu Feb 12, 2015 3:17 pm

Hi

In Oracle, we use AWR, collect analyze snapshots of performance metrics collected over a period of time.
Is there an equivalent component in Kognitio?

Thanks,
Jagan

You can capture information from virtual tables whilst the system is in use - these allow you to see details such as all running disk and ram accesses, how full disk and RAM are, what locks are held and pending, what the status of query queues is, ... Version 7 has fair amount of information, and there are further enhancements in version 8.

You can find a lot more information about virtual tables from the Kognitio support portal, if you have access to that, by searching for virtual table.

You could either capture this information in a client, or insert-select it into user logging tables on the server. In the latter case, you'd need to decide how regularly to capture information, what level of granularity to capture, and how long to keep the information; in a large system capturing information with high frequency from every process in the system would generate a very significant amount of data quite quickly.
