Running out of connections on single node server

by markc » Mon Aug 08, 2016 12:05 pm

I have a single node server, and this is only allowing me to make 50 connections. I have used security classes to disconnect idle sessions, but is there a way for me to increase the number of connections a single node server can support?

You can't go much above 50 connections per IO process - I think the upper limit is 58.

You can have multiple IO processes per server node though. To do this, edit the config file with wxviconf to put something like the following in the [general] section:

daemon_port=6550,6551,6552

That will give you three IO processes per node, listening on ports 6550 (the default), 6551, and 6552.

You will then need to change the DSN for your clients to list all these ports, and make sure that you don't have any firewall rules in place to prevent connections to the new ports.
