freeing Console memory after retrieving large result sets

by markc » Fri May 16, 2014 11:46 am

If I run a number of queries in Console the memory usage keeps increasing, and the RAM is never recovered. Is there any way I can recover that space? I know that Console allows me to go back to the old result sets and review them, but sometimes I know that I'm not going to need them so I would be happy to get rid of them.

If using scripts to retrieve the large result sets, you can go to the Query History pane for "Queries by script", select the relevant script runs, then bring up the right-click pop-up menu, and select "Discard Results" to free up the related memory. Alternatively, right-click on "Queries by script" and select "Discard All Script Runs and Results"

If using ad-hoc queries rather than scripts, go to the Quert History pane, select the queries you want to remove, bring up the right-click pop-up menu and select "Discard Results" or "Discard Query and Results".
