I cannot install Console, why is that?

Console installation may fail for several reasons:

1. A previous version of Console is still running, usually a message box like this is shown:

Note that on multi-user servers another user may have the an instance of Console (or another program that uses the Kognitio ODBC driver) running.

Solution: close Console and any of the Kognitio command line tools which may be using the ODBC driver, and try the reinstall.

2. Very rarely a previous version of Console has crashed in such a way that it is still active as a task, but not visible.

Solution: start Windows Task Manager, look for a process called wxconsole.exe, select it, then click on the "End process" button. Then try the reinstall of Console again.

3. The user does not have Administrator privileges.

Solution: right-click on the installer, select "Run as administrator", and install Console.

4. There is already a version of Console installed and the Administrator user has been denied write privileges on C:\Program Files\Kognitio Ltd\wx2clients32 (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Kognitio Ltd\wx2clients32 for a 32 bit Console install on a 64 bit Windows system).

Solution: you need to give the Administrators "Full Control" privileges to "C:\Program Files\Kognitio Ltd" (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Kognitio Ltd ) and their subdirectories and files.

5. If Console still fails to install, try installing it using Compatibility Mode for Windows 2008. This may work even if the system you are installing it onto is running that version of Windows.

6. If none of these methods work, contact Kognitio Support and we will try and find a solution.
